After playing Skyward Sword, my interest in all things Zelda has skyrocketed. Especially the music. Luckily, it being Zelda’s 25th anniversary, Skyward Sword came with a music CD, filled with a glorious orchestral rendering of music from throughout the series. I had it playing on infinite loop for weeks. Then, in further celebration of their anniversary, I learned that the Houston Symphony Orchestra would be playing this amazing compilation live. I quickly grabbed some tickets for the brother and myself, for his birthday, and along with Kyle, we were treated to an epic evening of geekery.
I squealed in nerdish delight when they played the dark world theme. And after three encores, I think they played the entire CD. The accompanying video clips from the game really added a lot. It wasn’t as elaborate or high-budget as the Star Wars in Concert series I saw at the Toyota Center, but still equally fulfilling.
And apparently the love of Zelda extends to our neighbors to the south, as one of the Mexican gymnasts chose it to play during her floor display at the Olympics.
